Passeriformes- Perching Birds

Passeriformes is the largest order of birds in the world containing over 5000 species. Over half of all bird species are passerines  Most of the familiar backyard bird are members of this order.The defining characteristic of the order is the toe arrangement. All passerines have three toes pointing forward and one toe pointing back,  called anisodactyl arrangement.
