Anurans- Frogs and Toads

Anurans is the largest order of amphibians making up 88% with 4800 species. Almost all frogs are carnivorous as adults and herbivores as larva. The family inhabits tropical to temperate areas of the world. Due to their semi-permeable skin they require a moist environment or behavioral adaptations to avoid desiccation. The greatest  diversity of anurans occur in tropical rain forests. There are 33 families found on all continents except  Antarctica
