Mustelidae
The mustelids are a large and diverse group of carnivores. There are 57 species divided among five subfamilies. Many species possess lush, soft coats that have historically and continue to be sought after by the fur trade. The family gets its name from an anal scent gland that produces a strong odor. The five subfamilies are: Lutrinae- otters, mustelinae- weasels and wolverines, taxidenae- American Badger, mellivorinae- honey badgers and melinae- European badgers. There is a variety in the dental formula but the most common is 3131/3132
